Louisa Nkrumah, a Staff Assistant with the Office of Technology Development at Penn State Hershey's College of Medicine, graduated in 2006 from Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A well-rounded student, Ms. Nkrumah balanced her academic life with volunteer work at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Soup Kitchen in Harrisburg. She also worked as a Sales Associate at the city's Bon-Ton department store. Assisting customers while working for different departments within Bon-Ton, Louisa Nkrumah developed the communication and time management skills she uses in her current professional pursuits.
After graduating from high school, Louisa Nkrumah began working toward her BA in Applied Behavioral Science at The Pennsylvania State University’s Harrisburg campus, which restricted her hours at Bon-Ton to vacation breaks. In 2008, Ms. Nkrumah registered with JFC Staffing Associates, which placed her in her current position at Penn State Hershey. Her responsibilities there vary from routine clerical duties, such as answering telephones, photocopying, and faxing, to more advanced tasks, such as maintaining databases and digital filing systems. Louisa Nkrumah also excels with the various productivity programs in the Microsoft Office software suite.
In her leisure time, Louisa Nkrumah enjoys playing tennis and the piano, visiting with family and friends, and shopping. An avid reader, Ms. Nkrumah cites Pearl Cleage, Nancy Farmer, and Maya Angelou among her favorite authors. Of the books she has read recently, she particularly enjoyed Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love.
